My name is Chavarit Timothy and I am pursuing a Diploma in Architecture at Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP). I first became interested in architecture visiting historical buildings like Westminster Abbey & the Natural History Museum in the UK as well as concept art from different films like Metropolis (1927), Batman (1989) and Howl’s Moving Castle (2004). I enrolled at NYP to pursue this interest further.

The syllabus at NYP Archi has exposed me to a wide scope of skills, knowledge and experiences. These skills are in a number of areas such as: free hand sketches, by-hand modelmaking, laser cutting, 3D printing, Autocad, BIM and Rhino. Group work is common at NYP and has allowed me to gain workplace communication skills and be a team-player.

Outside of my design course, I visit libraries to browse through the comics collections. I like to watch movies and read detective books in my free time as well. The facilities at NYP have also enabled me to recently pick up sewing. These hobbies let me relax and hone basic project management skills. I hope that my internship will be an invaluable learning opportunity that offers me new skills and information about the architectural industry.
